Over 700 Attend Busan Superintendent of Education-led Large-scale Online Meeting at 10 AM on the 2nd
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] To strengthen prevention of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), a remote video conference involving all principals of elementary, middle, high, and special schools in the Busan area will be held at 10 a.m. on the 2nd.
Amid the first confirmed COVID-19 case among third-year high school students attending in-person classes recently, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 1st that Superintendent Kim Seok-jun will personally preside over a meeting of all principals.
The meeting will be conducted using the video conferencing app ZOOM in the conference room on the 4th floor of the annex building of the Metropolitan Office of Education. About 700 principals from kindergartens, elementary, middle, high, and special schools, as well as heads of six departments including Educational Innovation, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, School Life Education, Budget Planning, and Teacher Personnel, along with heads of elementary and secondary education support divisions from five education support offices responsible for disaster safety measures, will attend.
The Metropolitan Office of Education plans to communicate matters that individual schools must address, such as strengthening management of suspected COVID-19 cases, enhancing school disinfection, emergency procedures for switching to remote classes, and teacher attendance during disaster response periods.
Strengthening guidance on students' extracurricular activities, including refraining from visiting multi-use facilities such as PC rooms and karaoke rooms, will also be discussed at this meeting.
They also plan to collect difficulties and suggestions related to in-person classes and prepare active support measures.
On the 1st, the Metropolitan Office of Education began conducting its own comprehensive COVID-19 testing for all third-year students and staff at Naeseong High School. The additional testing on this day targets 170 people in total: 118 students (excluding 73 who were tested on the 31st out of 191 third-year students) and 52 staff members (excluding 23 who were tested on the 31st out of 75 staff members).
