The Gyeonggi Office of Education announced on the 1st that it decided to operate the 'Citizen Supervisory Group' to improve the quality of construction work and enhance the integrity and accountability of construction personnel during the promotion of educational facility projects.
The Citizen Supervisory Group will be responsible for technical guidance on construction management, quality control, and safety management, as well as monitoring, preventing, and reporting inconveniences at educational facility project sites with construction costs exceeding 4 billion KRW.
To this end, the Gyeonggi Office of Education will recruit citizens with expertise in the facilities field to participate in the Citizen Supervisory Group from the 11th to the 17th. The number of recruits is 30 in total: 10 in architecture, 5 in civil engineering, 5 in mechanical engineering, and 5 in electrical engineering. The appointed members of the Citizen Supervisory Group will serve a two-year term and may be reappointed once.
The Gyeonggi Office of Education will divide the 30 Citizen Supervisory Group members into teams of five by southern and northern regions.
Shin Hyun-taek, head of the Facilities Division at the Gyeonggi Office of Education, said, "The Citizen Supervisory Group for construction projects at the Gyeonggi Office of Education will play a significant role in improving the quality of school facility construction and enhancing the integrity and accountability of construction personnel," adding, "We ask capable citizens to apply actively so that the Citizen Supervisory Group’s activities can contribute to establishing a fair construction culture."
