Dongdaemun-gu Selects Outstanding Public Officials for Proactive Administration

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yu Deok-yeol) is reorganizing the proactive administration promotion system to encourage proactive administration and foster a public service culture dedicated to residents, and will select outstanding proactive public officials in the first half of the year.

Proactive administration refers to public officials actively handling tasks based on creativity and expertise for the public interest, such as improving unreasonable regulations.

The district plans to encourage and reward employees for proactive administration by activating exemption and preferential treatment systems for employees, and will select outstanding proactive cases and outstanding proactive public officials every half year.

Outstanding proactive cases and public officials will be finally selected through recommendation and reception, a practical review committee, and deliberation and resolution by the personnel committee. Outstanding public officials will receive preferential treatment in personnel matters and monetary rewards.

Yu Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “Even while working hard on COVID-19 response tasks, employees are promoting creative and proactive administration, for which I am always grateful,” and added, “The selection of outstanding proactive cases and public officials is expected to induce greater changes in the public service community and increase residents’ satisfaction with administrative services. We will continue to do our best to relax exemption standards for proactive administration and establish a foundation for working to improve the quality of public services.”
