Yangcheon-gu, Receive an Eco Pot When Certified for Good Consumption

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) will give away Eco Pots (plant-growing DIY kits) to those who participate in kind consumption and visit their nearby community service centers for certification starting from the 1st.

The district launched this event to support small business owners facing financial difficulties and to revitalize the local commercial district by encouraging participation in "kind consumption." The Eco Pot is given as a gesture of mental care to help heal the body and mind exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

The Eco Pots will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to 50 people per neighborhood. Those who bring receipts totaling 30,000 KRW or more from kind consumption and submit them at their nearby community service center can receive an Eco Pot.

Additionally, the district is running an event where residents who collect receipts from payments made at local restaurants and traditional markets totaling 100,000 KRW or more and submit them to their neighborhood community service center will receive a Kind Mask Set (one cloth mask and one portable hand sanitizer set).

Anyone residing in the district can participate in this event. However, only receipts from purchases made within the district are eligible, and applicants must visit the community service center corresponding to their registered address to apply.

Yangcheon-gu started the "Kind Consumption Campaign" on March 18, with voluntary participation spreading among residents, including Mayor Kim Soo-young, local community leaders, various professional group heads, and volunteer club members, providing significant support to small business owners.

The campaign has been recognized as an excellent case, receiving inquiries from many media outlets and local governments, creating a butterfly effect and spreading nationwide.

Mayor Kim Soo-young of Yangcheon-gu said, "Since the start of the Kind Consumption Campaign, I have been amazed once again by the power of positive influence as I see residents voluntarily participating, wanting to contribute even in small ways." He added, "I hope the atmosphere of kind consumption will spread further so that we can overcome the difficulties caused by COVID-19 together."
