Lotte Department Store Unveils 'Olga Whole Food Megashop'

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] Lotte Department Store announced on the 31st that it will open an 'Orga Whole Foods Megashop' at its Gangnam branch, reflecting the 'eco-friendly home meal trend' in the post-COVID-19 era.

Reflecting the growing interest in eco-friendly foods and sustainable consumption, Lotte Department Store has converted the Gangnam branch's eco-friendly food store 'Orga' into the department store industry's first 'Orga Whole Foods Megashop.' With a sales area of approximately 330㎡ (100 pyeong), it is the largest Orga megashop nationwide. In addition to the existing eco-friendly fresh foods, this store will also offer 'on-site demonstration home meal kits' and 'customized health foods.'

The key themes for fresh foods sold at the 'Orga Whole Foods Megashop' are 'animal welfare' and 'ultra-freshness.' In the 'Sustainable Livestock and Seafood Specialty Zone,' customers can find government-certified animal welfare products, and ultra-fresh foods such as pork slaughtered within 4 days and air-flown fresh salmon, as well as seasonal agricultural products directly shipped from production areas.

There is also a space where customers can experience 'on-site demonstration home meal kits.' Ready-to-eat foods such as salads and sandwiches made with organic ingredients, meal kits, and baby foods are sold, and at the 'Live Kitchen,' customers can taste home meal kits freshly prepared on-site.

Additionally, this store offers personalized health functional foods tailored to individuals based on their dietary habits, health status, and InBody body composition measurement results. The health product category is subdivided into zones such as functional drink zone, active senior zone, and children’s zone.

Shin Nam-seon, team leader of the Metropolitan Area 1 MD Team at Lotte Department Store, said, “We will satisfy diverse customer needs with differentiated eco-friendly content such as sustainable livestock and seafood, on-site demonstration home meal kits, and personalized health foods, and also strengthen non-face-to-face services through free delivery services.”
