On the 30th (local time), the Brazilian Ministry of Health announced in a press briefing that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases was counted at 498,440, an increase of 33,274 from the previous day.
The number of new confirmed cases on this day is the highest since the first case was reported on February 26.
Brazil's total confirmed cases rank second in the world after the United States. The death toll increased by 956 from the previous day to 28,834.
According to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University in the United States, Brazil's cumulative death toll surpassed Spain the previous day and exceeded France (28,774) on this day, ranking fourth in the world after the United States, the United Kingdom, and Italy.
Among the total confirmed cases, 268,714 are currently undergoing treatment, and 200,892 have recovered. The cause of death is under investigation for 3,862 cases.
