The First Ever GSAT on the Second Day... Only Samsung Electronics Tests Conducted in the Morning and Afternoon

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] On the 31st, the second day of the Samsung Job Aptitude Test (GSAT), which is being held online for the first time in history, the test will be conducted twice, once in the morning and once in the afternoon.

On the second day, at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., only Samsung Electronics' test will be held.

On the first day of the online GSAT, tests were held for Samsung SDI and other electronics affiliates, Samsung Life Insurance and Cheil Worldwide among financial and independent affiliates, bio affiliates, and Samsung Electronics.

The test consists of 20 questions in the mathematics section and 30 questions in the reasoning section, and is conducted over a total of two hours: 60 minutes for preparation and 60 minutes for the test.

Although the questions differ for each test session, reviews titled "Fire GSAT" were posted on employment communities on the first day. It was evaluated as difficult due to many new types of applied problems in mathematics, and the reasoning section took a lot of time because of many conditional reasoning questions.

As it was the first online test, there were restrictions that made it feel more difficult. Samsung sent an email stating that applicants should not touch the monitor while reading the test questions to prevent cheating, and supervisors reiterated the same before this test. Applicants who are used to marking questions with a pen complained that it was difficult to properly read through the questions. Also, some applicants were concerned because their hands could not go outside the camera view.

Samsung previously switched GSAT to an online format to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and to adopt a recruitment method suitable for the Fourth Industrial Revolution era.

Samsung stated that applicants caught cheating will have their test results invalidated and will be banned from taking the test for the next five years. Additionally, if necessary, applicants who cheat will be held civilly and criminally liable.

The interview schedule has not yet been decided, but typically, executive interviews, job competency interviews, and creativity interviews are conducted about a month later. Samsung plans to conduct a brief GSAT test for applicants during future interview stages. A Samsung official explained, "This is to verify and prevent cheating."
