50-Year-Old Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Sexually Assaulting Daughter for 15 Years and Forcing Four Abortions

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jucheol In] A heartless father in his 50s who continuously sexually assaulted his biological daughter for 15 years and forced her to undergo multiple abortions has been sentenced to a heavy prison term.

The Ulsan District Court's 11th Criminal Division (Chief Judge Park Jooyoung) on the 29th sentenced A (55), who was indicted on charges including rape of a minor under 13, to 25 years in prison.

The court also ordered A to be banned from employment at child and youth-related institutions for 10 years and to wear an electronic monitoring device for 20 years.

A was charged with continuously sexually assaulting his daughter B, who was 12 years old at the time and terrified after witnessing him assault his wife for having an affair, at his home in Gyeongnam in November 2004 for 15 years.

He also committed the atrocity of forcing his daughter to have an abortion after she became pregnant from his sexual assaults, and then sexually assaulted her again while she was terrified.

B experienced pregnancy and abortion four times, including the first pregnancy when she was in the second year of middle school, as a result of A's crimes.

After B became an adult and had a boyfriend, A became angry and assaulted her multiple times with his palm and other means, and even recorded scenes of sexual assault and nude photos on his mobile phone.

After A was brought to trial, B posted a message on the Blue House National Petition website asking for a severe punishment, fearing retaliation from her biological father after his release.

The court stated the sentencing reasons, saying, "The defendant had the duty and responsibility to protect and raise the victim properly, but he abandoned this and committed inhumane crimes," and added, "He did not simply rape the victim but also engaged in perverted acts such as filming the sexual acts."

It continued, "The victim experienced pregnancy and abortion four times, including the first pregnancy in the second year of middle school," and added, "It is difficult to imagine the mental and physical suffering endured by the victim who was subjected to such horrific crimes over a long period, beyond what an ordinary person can conceive."
