[Asia Economy Honam News Bureau, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo District of Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor: Seo Daeseok) announced on May 29 that it held a "Life's Moment Captured Dream" reminder wedding photo shoot for seniors with dementia.
This event was organized in celebration of Family Month and Married Couples' Day in May, and took place at Omaebulmang Healing Park within Pungam Sports Park, targeting 20 couples where one or both partners are seniors with dementia.
The event was designed to give families who have cared for dementia patients at home for a long time a special memory, and to help relieve their stress, thereby reducing the burden of caregiving.
For the reminder wedding, participating couples received support for attire, hair, and makeup. After the photo shoot, they will be presented with their photos and framed portraits.
Before the photo session, a time was set aside for the couples to recite vows of love, allowing them to reflect on the value and gratitude they feel for each other.
This event is expected to help break down prejudices against dementia patients and foster a community atmosphere of overcoming dementia together.
Meanwhile, Seo District plans to hold a wedding photo presentation ceremony and exhibit the photos taken that day at the Omaebulmang Healing Park Memory Photo Exhibition scheduled for next month.
A Seo District official stated, "We hope this became a special experience that relieved stress for both seniors with dementia and their families," adding, "We will do our best to make Seo District a place where seniors with dementia and their families can live without worrying about dementia, through a variety of programs."
