[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] CoreAsia, a system semiconductor design solution specialist company, announced on the 29th that it has won the industry's first project to develop and supply an integrated core chip (One Chip) for electronic cigarettes. The company plans to complete chip development within this year and start full-scale mass production in the first half of next year.
The integrated core chip for electronic cigarettes, which was recently ordered, is a one-chip that integrates three core chips necessary for operating heated tobacco electronic cigarettes into one. CoreAsia Semi and Nexel collaborated on the development, and the chip is produced at Samsung Foundry and delivered to the final customers. It is expected to have the industry's best price competitiveness by reducing manufacturing costs by more than 40% compared to existing products.
Additionally, the size of the circuit board is reduced by nearly half, enabling a wider battery space and a compact design. It also features ultra-fast charging, cutting device charging time in half, and plans to obtain global safety certification (IEC60730) for heat generation and battery safety. A company official stated, "This project is a turnkey method directly carried out by CoreAsia from design to mass production," and added, "As a dedicated DSP (Design Solution Partner) for Samsung Foundry, we will continue to handle projects for global top-tier customers."
