Gwangju Seo-gu Leads Efforts to Improve Awareness of Emotional Labor Workers

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Daeseok) is taking the lead in improving awareness of the working environment for emotional laborers.

On the 29th, Seo-gu announced that it has launched a campaign to improve awareness of the working environment for vulnerable workers to support the activation of local labor-management-civil-government cooperation.

To protect the labor rights of emotional laborers and create a safe working environment in accordance with the Industrial Safety and Health Act's protective measures for customer service workers, visits were made to small-scale marts in the district.

They visited 39 local Nadulgaege stores and 2 food material marts, delivering social awareness improvement promotional materials created for emotional laborers working face-to-face with customers at small-scale marts.

The promotional boards and badges inscribed with the phrase "Thank you. A warm word makes everyone happy." received great response from emotional laborers.

Earlier, Seo-gu signed a business agreement with Nadulgaege to improve awareness of the working environment for vulnerable workers, in a meeting attended by Seo Daeseok, Seo-gu Mayor, Ryu Jiyong, Chairman of the Seo-gu Nadulgaege Association, and other members.

A Seo-gu official said, "Through this social awareness improvement campaign, we hope Seo-gu will become a considerate district that protects emotional laborers from incorrect perceptions and attitudes such as verbal abuse from some customers."
