Visiting National Health Screening in Jinyeong, Hallim, and Daedong, Gimhae City (2020 National Cancer Screening Poster)
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam announced on the 29th that it will conduct mobile national health (cancer) screenings in cooperation with the Population Health and Welfare Association for residents of towns and townships in medically underserved areas.
The screening targets are those born in even-numbered years (colorectal cancer screening is conducted annually). General screenings include physical measurements, blood pressure measurement, pathology tests, and chest X-rays, while cancer screenings cover stomach cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, and cervical cancer.
The mobile screenings will be held on June 1 and 2 at the open space in front of Jinyeong Culture Center, on the 3rd at Hallim-myeon Health Center, and on the 4th at Daedong-myeon Health Center. Screening hours are from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
Residents wishing to be screened should fast after dinner the day before starting from 10 PM and bring their ID on the day of the screening to the screening location.
Colorectal cancer screening targets aged 50 and over must submit stool samples in the provided container. If abnormalities are found in the first stool test, costs for colonoscopy (excluding sedation fees) can also be supported.
Even if residents cannot receive screening during this mobile screening period, they can undergo national health screenings at designated screening institutions within the jurisdiction.
Lee Jong-hak, Director of Gimhae City Health Center, said, "Due to COVID-19, health screenings may be neglected, but early detection and treatment of cancer are possible through national cancer screenings. Since many people make reservations at the end of the year making it difficult to get screened, we strongly urge residents to get screened by September if possible."
