[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] On the 29th, the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education held a brown bag meeting during lunchtime to share information on the utilization of educational data following the amendment of the Big Data Three Laws.

The brown bag meeting is a bottom-up meeting style that comfortably shares knowledge or information during lunchtime, originating from the practice of putting sandwiches or hamburgers in small brown paper bags (Brown bags).

The meeting, co-hosted by the Education Policy Network and the provincial Office of Education, was conducted with a keynote presentation by a lecturer on "Utilization Plans for Educational Data Following the Amendment of the Three Data Laws" and discussions among attendees while eating lunch.

Jung Kwang-hoon, Head of the Big Data Analysis Department at the Korea Education and Research Information Service, who gave the keynote speech, explained the reason for the legal amendment by stating, "We have systematically revised personal information protection-related laws to harmonize personal information protection with the development of related industries."

Additionally, Director Jung suggested, "The provincial Office of Education can analyze data in areas such as identifying at-risk students, educational welfare, education demand forecasting, creating local educational environments, student health and safety, teacher welfare, workload reduction, career education, academic achievement improvement, and educational finance."

Kim Yoon-hee, Head of the Knowledge Information Division at the provincial Office of Education, said, "This has become an opportunity to start research utilizing educational data for reducing educational gaps and workload reduction based on artificial intelligence."
