Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Improves Working Conditions for Public Employees at Private Schools Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education has decided to improve the placement standards and working conditions of private school educational public officials to the level of public schools in order to boost their morale.

On the 29th, the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced that it has established the "Detailed Implementation Plan for Efficient Support of Private School Academic Administrative Staff and Administrative Clerks," which will be implemented starting from the 1st of next month.

Through this plan, the placement standards for private school academic administrative staff and administrative clerks will be improved and supplemented based on public school standards to enable efficient management of educational public officials, while also boosting their morale to foster a sense of unity within the educational community.

For private school administrative clerks, the public school educational public official placement standards will be applied: one clerk will be assigned to middle schools with 8 or more classes, one clerk to high schools with up to 23 classes, and two clerks to high schools with 24 or more classes. Additionally, one academic administrative staff member will be assigned per school.

Furthermore, a shortfall of 368.7 million KRW in school operation support funds due to the decrease in student numbers will be supported over the next five years to improve the treatment of educational public officials.

The Office of Education established this plan after receiving strong calls for improvements in the staffing of private school educational public officials and the shortfall in school operation support funds, gathering opinions through the superintendent’s field visits and the operation of a task force (TF).

Kim Tae-moon, Director of Policy Planning, stated, “The efficient support plan for private school academic administrative staff and administrative clerks that we have established this time is expected to greatly contribute to the student-centered classroom reform and the creation of a vibrant organizational culture, which are key promises of the superintendent.”
