[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Park Sang-gu, a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council's Urban Planning and Management Committee (Democratic Party, Gangseo 1), announced, "We have secured 1.7 billion KRW from the 2020 Seoul Special Grant Fund to promote the 'Balsan Rainwater Storage Tank Improvement (Covering) Project' in the Naebalsan-dong area of Gangseo-gu, Seoul."
The Balsan rainwater storage tank, created in 2008 along with the Balsan residential land development project, had no issues at the time of completion as the surrounding area was farmland and public land. However, as the surrounding area developed into the Magok district, there arose a need to expand the drainage system and improve the facilities.
Assemblyman Park Sang-gu stated, "The project faced difficulties in securing the budget as it was only promoted with district funds, but with the special grant fund secured this time, construction such as the establishment of an internal safety center education facility and the creation of an upper park for the rainwater storage tank can proceed smoothly."
Assemblyman Park added, "Since the majority of local residents want the project to proceed quickly, I will continuously consult with related departments and, as a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council's Urban Planning and Management Committee, make every effort to ensure that the rainwater storage tank covering project can start as soon as possible."
