[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Kolmar Korea is solidifying its status as a global cosmetics original design manufacturer (ODM) focused on research and development (R&D) by recently achieving consecutive patent registrations.
As of this month, Kolmar Korea has registered 18 patents and filed 43 patent applications. In addition to patents, it has registered 6 utility models, filed 3 utility model applications, registered 65 designs, and filed 58 design applications. This amounts to an average of 38 applications and registrations per month.
Kolmar Korea’s total cumulative filings and registrations as of this month include 283 patent registrations, 468 patent applications, 28 utility model registrations, 53 utility model applications, 354 design registrations, and 412 design applications, representing the highest level in the industry.
The areas cover various fields such as materials, technology, and containers. In April, the company developed and patented ingredients that prevent aging and protect the skin extracted from Stellaria, sunflower, and Ardisia japonica, which grow naturally in most regions of Korea.
They also developed and patented an ‘elastic liposome’ that effectively delivers functional cosmetic ingredients to the skin. On the 21st, they succeeded in patent registration for a ‘heterogeneous content container’ that allows different formulations to be placed in a single container for convenient simultaneous use when applying cosmetics.
A Kolmar Korea official stated, “As the first in the domestic cosmetics industry to introduce a technology development-centered ODM business, Kolmar Korea is fully committed to technology development through continuous investment in R&D.
