[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] On the 27th at 11 a.m., the Seoul Arts Center announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Library of Korea at the National Library to efficiently preserve cultural and artistic materials and establish a digital archive.
Through this agreement, the Seoul Arts Center and the National Library of Korea have committed to actively promoting continuous digitalization support of cultural and artistic materials and establishing a foundation for their joint utilization.
Specifically, the cooperation includes ▲ donation and consignment of collections for the collection and preservation of artistic materials ▲ collaboration on digitalization and joint utilization for the preservation and use of artistic materials ▲ exchange of technical information for the organization and standardization of services related to artistic materials ▲ and linked projects such as promotion to share artistic materials and activate services.
The Seoul Arts Center plans to participate in the National Library of Korea’s 2020 cultural and artistic materials digitalization support project by providing over 15,000 artistically significant performance programs, about 30,000 performance recordings, more than 1,000 exhibition catalogs, and over 11,000 posters. The digitized materials will enable various search services by work, performer, staff, and more, expanding the scope of material utilization. These materials will be made accessible to anyone through the websites of both the Seoul Arts Center and the National Library of Korea.
