One Japanese Military 'Comfort Woman' Victim Passes Away... 17 Survivors Remain

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on the 26th that one victim of the Japanese military 'comfort women' has passed away.

Minister Lee Jung-ok of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family stated, "We will do our best to support the funeral of the late grandmother and pay proper respects on her final journey." The minister added, "We will strengthen policy support to ensure a healthy and comfortable old age and actively promote projects to restore honor and dignity."

As of May, the number of surviving victims registered with the government has decreased to a total of 17. Details of relatives are kept confidential at the request of the bereaved family.
