LG Electronics Expands NanoCell LCD TV Lineup to Target Premium Demand

65-inch NanoCell 8K Models Released Domestically
Proprietary Technology Delivers Realistically Close Color Representation

LG Electronics Expands NanoCell LCD TV Lineup to Target Premium Demand LG Electronics is launching two new NanoCell TV models featuring a 65-inch screen with 8K resolution. LG NanoCell TVs utilize technology that enhances color expression by using particles approximately 1 nanometer in size. The models are introducing the NanoCell TV.

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] LG Electronics announced on the 26th that it has launched a new 'NanoCell TV' model in South Korea featuring a 65-inch screen with 8K resolution.

The new product, 'LG NanoCell 8K AI ThinQ,' applies NanoCell technology, which enhances color expression using particles sized 1 nanometer (nm, one billionth of a meter).

In liquid crystal display (LCD) TVs, red colors can be distorted by mixing with other color wavelengths, resulting in inaccurate representation. NanoCell absorbs surrounding color wavelengths to reproduce the purest red color closest to reality.

LG Electronics applied NanoCell technology at the panel stage closest to the viewer's eyes. This allows the pure color expression created by NanoCell to reach the viewer directly without passing through other devices.

With this new product launch, the LG NanoCell 8K TV lineup has expanded to a total of four models, including two 75-inch models introduced in March. The 4K resolution models are available in 86-, 75-, 65-, and 55-inch sizes.

LG Electronics is offering cashback of up to 1 million KRW depending on the purchased model to customers who buy 2020 NanoCell TVs by the end of next month.

Since last year, the company has been the only global TV manufacturer to release 8K resolution products in both organic light-emitting diode (OLED) TVs and LCD TVs. Alongside the OLED TV, the top-tier premium TV lineup, LG plans to actively target premium TV demand by promoting NanoCell TVs with enhanced color expression.

The suggested retail prices for the new products are 6 million KRW for the 65Nano99 model and 5.5 million KRW for the 65Nano97 model.

Daegi Son, Executive Director of Marketing for LG Electronics Korea HE, emphasized, “We will expand customer choices and continue to lead the premium TV market by offering a premium lineup ranging from OLED to NanoCell.”
