[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Yoo Eun-hye and Jeonnam Superintendent of Education Jang Seok-woong inspected the preparation status at schools for the return to in-person classes for 12th graders starting on the 20th.
According to the Jeonnam Office of Education on the 19th, Deputy Prime Minister Yoo and Superintendent Jang visited Damyang High School the previous day to check the COVID-19 prevention measures related to the return to school and urged everyone to do their best to prevent infections and ensure student safety.
At Damyang High School, the two checked ▲ temperature screening ▲ temporary observation room operation plans considering symptomatic individuals ▲ implementation plans for social distancing within the school ▲ stockpiles of masks and other quarantine supplies.
They also held meetings with school officials, education support offices, public health centers, fire stations, and parents to discuss improvements in preparation for the return to in-person classes.
At the meeting, Superintendent Jang explained the status of 12th graders and elementary and middle schools with fewer than 60 students in Jeonnam province where in-person classes are resuming, as well as measures to reduce student density and strengthen school quarantine.
Superintendent Jang said, “We will operate attendance, break, and meal times flexibly and shorten class times by 5 minutes to minimize student density and contact. Since the return to school was achieved with difficulty, we will thoroughly establish quarantine measures to prioritize student safety.”
Deputy Prime Minister Yoo requested, “Since in-person classes for 12th graders start on the 20th, please do your best to ensure thorough quarantine management so that students and parents can feel safe and confident about attending school.”
