Kim Yeonsu from Music Education attracted the judges’ attention with a short comic and writing depicting precious time spent with family during the pause in social activities such as gatherings caused by COVID-19.
Additionally, Jang Heeyoon from Earth Science Education received high praise and won the grand prize with a sincere essay describing how the time gained during the ‘social distancing’ period was spent valuably by doing things that had not been done before, such as spending time with family and reading.
Director Park Hyunju of the project group said, “When universities like Cambridge closed during the 1664 European plague (Black Death), Isaac Newton invested that time in studying the concept of gravity. Similarly, we planned this contest not as a ‘stop’ caused by the COVID-19 situation but as an opportunity to view the situation positively and develop. I am pleased that the contest received a better response than expected and thank everyone who participated.”
