[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The Personal Information Disclosure Committee deciding whether to reveal the identity of Moon Mo (24), the original creator of the Telegram 'Nth Room' known as 'GodGod,' will be held on the 13th.

The Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency will convene the Personal Information Disclosure Committee from 1 p.m. that day to deliberate on whether to disclose Moon's identity and discuss the specific scope of disclosure. The committee consists of seven members, including lawyers and internal and external personnel.

The results of the deliberation are expected to be announced later that afternoon. Previously, the identities of the main perpetrators and accomplices related to the 'Doctor's Room,' including 'Doctor' Jo Joo-bin (24), 'Boo-tta' Kang Hoon (19), and Army Private 'Igiya' Lee Won-ho (19), have already been disclosed. If Moon's identity is revealed, it will be the fourth case of identity disclosure related to the Nth Room incident.

The basis for disclosing personal information lies in two laws: the "Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Specific Violent Crimes (Special Act on Violent Crimes)" and the "Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (Special Act on Sexual Crimes)." Article 8, Paragraph 2 of the Special Act on Violent Crimes stipulates that if certain conditions are met?such as the crime being committed by cruel means causing serious harm, sufficient evidence to believe the suspect committed the crime, and the necessity for public interest including the public's right to know?the suspect's identity may be disclosed. Article 25 of the Special Act on Sexual Crimes also sets similar standards for deciding on identity disclosure. All suspects whose identities have been disclosed so far were decided based on the Special Act on Sexual Crimes. Moon will be subject to the same criteria.

Considering the cases of other suspects whose identities were previously disclosed, it is highly likely that Moon's identity will also be revealed. Since he confessed to the crime himself and the evidence collected by the police is reportedly substantial, there appears to be no difficulty in proving the charges. The police plan to announce detailed investigation results, including specific criminal facts about Moon, after the decision on identity disclosure is made.
