[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has allocated an additional budget of 1.5 billion KRW in the job sector as part of its measures to stabilize residents' livelihoods amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and will hire 134 temporary workers for eco-friendly green jobs in the park and green space sector.
This initiative aims to support the livelihoods of residents facing economic difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation and to create a pleasant environment by maintaining streetsides, hiking trails, parks, and more.
The work areas include ▲maintenance of children's parks ▲disinfection of children's park playground facilities (sand) ▲maintenance of Gwanaksan forest and hiking trails ▲maintenance of street trees and green belts ▲management of strip green spaces ▲forest tending ▲operation of forest ecological experience centers ▲assistance in early childhood forest education, among 11 fields in total, with the work period from May to November.
In particular, the strip green space management jobs are targeted at elderly workers aged 71 to 75, expected to support seniors' livelihoods and provide vitality to their lives.
A Gwanak-gu official stated, “To prevent industrial accidents and manage health, safety and health experts with specialized knowledge in the relevant fields will be appointed to inspect work sites and address any issues, ensuring a safe and pleasant working environment for workers.”
