Lee Jun-seok to Kim Jong-in: "The person who even revived Saenuri Party... No reason to overthrow" Lee Jun-seok, a Supreme Council member of the United Future Party, said in an interview with KBS Radio's 'Kim Kyung-rae's Strongest Current Affairs' on the 7th, regarding Kim Jong-in, the nominee for the Emergency Response Committee Chairman, "He is the person who once revived the Saenuri Party, the predecessor of the United Future Party. I don't see any reason to overturn it." Photo by Yonhap News

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] On the 7th, Lee Jun-seok, Supreme Council Member of the United Future Party, said about Kim Jong-in, the appointed emergency committee chairman, "He is the person who once revived the Saenuri Party, the predecessor of the United Future Party. I don't see any reason to overturn that."

In an interview with KBS Radio's 'Kim Kyung-rae's Strongest Current Affairs' on the same day, Lee said, "Isn't Kim the one elected by the National Committee as the emergency committee chairman?"

Regarding Rep. Kim Tae-heum's comment that Kim is "not even Hwata (a legendary Chinese doctor)," Lee responded, "We are not looking for Hwata, but among those with medical licenses, we should recognize that Kim is the one who responds. Kim has held a medical license for a long time. We are going by the track record of him once reviving the Saenuri Party."

When asked whether Kim should take responsibility for the United Future Party's crushing defeat in the April 15 general election as the overall standing election campaign committee chairman, Lee said, "There is some responsibility, but it depends on at which stage he participated."

He added, "At first, there was talk about bringing him in as the nomination management committee chairman, then whether he would join the campaign committee early or, as actually happened, join about 20 days before the end. I think if this patient (the United Future Party) had Kim as the attending physician before the cancer spread, the prognosis might have been different from now."
