In response, the South Korean military followed the response manual and the on-site commander's judgment by issuing a warning broadcast and firing twice.
After seeing the article shared by Jo Hyun, some progressive-leaning communities raised suspicions that she might be criticizing the current government with political intent.
Previously, during the early spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in South Korea, Jo Hyun shared an article related to the initial ban on Chinese entry. This was connected to the statement by Kim Jin-tae, a member of the United Future Party, calling for a ban on Chinese entry. At that time, her agency dismissed the controversy, saying, "She was simply saying 'Let's all stay healthy together.'"
