[Interview①] Director Yoon Sung-hyun "I Showed the Script to Lee Je-hoon First"

Director Yoon Sung-hyun expressed special affection for the actors.

On the morning of the 27th, Director Yoon shared various stories about the Netflix film Time to Hunt during an online video interview.

Time to Hunt is a chase thriller that depicts the tense hunting time between four friends who plan a dangerous operation for a new life and a mysterious pursuer chasing them. Director Yoon Sung-hyun, a visual storyteller who made a significant discovery in Korean cinema with the film Bleak Night (2011), presents his new work after nine years.

Lee Je-hoon and Park Jung-min, who previously worked together with the director, reunite in Time to Hunt, while Choi Woo-shik, who shook the Oscars with Parasite, represents the gloomy youth in the film. Park Hae-soo delivers a powerful presence as Han, a character whose identity is unknown.

On this day, Director Yoon Sung-hyun said, “I showed the script to Lee Je-hoon first. Since Lee Je-hoon and Park Jung-min are close friends, I wanted to work with them.”

Regarding the casting of Ahn Jae-hong, Director Yoon recalled, “Lee Je-hoon recommended Ahn Jae-hong, telling me to watch Jokgu King. After watching the film, I was surprised and thought he would perfectly fit the role of Jang-ho, so we decided to work together. The casting process was before Reply 1988 aired, and I cast him after watching Jokgu King.”

He added, “I was impressed by Choi Woo-shik after watching a short film he appeared in at a film festival in 2011. I felt he was a friend with tremendous potential and had been watching him, so I was happy to work with him this time. He was an actor I had been watching unilaterally, just like Lee Je-hoon and Park Jung-min.”

About Park Hae-soo, he said, “I became interested after seeing him in a minor role in a film and went to see his theater performance in Daehangno. I really wanted to work with him, so I offered him the role.”
