[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, announced that all related public officials who designed and executed the 'Disaster Basic Income,' providing 100,000 KRW per person to 13.6 million Gyeonggi residents without confusion or inconvenience, will be granted paid leave along with vacation pay.
On the 19th, through a post titled "The 15-day war that ended in perfect victory... Rewards for all related public officials" on Facebook, Governor Lee self-praised, saying, "The Disaster Basic Income policy, targeting 13.6 million residents, which is more than a quarter of the population of (South Korea), has overcome numerous obstacles such as detailed policy design, coordination of opinions with city and county offices, system design, negotiations with financial institutions, coordination of legislative opinions, and ordinance enactment, and has been successfully executed in just 15 days."
He expressed gratitude, stating, "Although this is an unprecedented ultra-large-scale new project, the smooth execution of the Disaster Basic Income without confusion or inconvenience is thanks to the Gyeonggi Province public officials, including Chief Choi Won-yong of the Planning and Coordination Office, who worked tirelessly through sleepless nights."
Governor Lee especially added, "The achievement made by Gyeonggi public officials in the short period of 15 days, which is unimaginable in metropolitan administration, demonstrates how quickly the loyalty and passion of competent and virtuous public officials can change the world," and described it as "an unprecedented, monumental, and lightning-fast administration worthy of inclusion in public administration textbooks."
He promised to reward all related public officials with paid leave and vacation pay.
He also stated that additional rewards will be given to related public officials after the African swine fever quarantine stabilizes further and after the forced demolition of illegal facilities, excluding residential buildings, in the valley maintenance project is completed.
Finally, Governor Lee expressed his gratitude to Song Han-jun, Chairman of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, Yeom Jong-hyun, the Democratic Party floor leader, and 30 mayors and county heads who participated in the Disaster Basic Income despite difficult financial and procedural challenges, for their great help through swift decision-making.
