[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] A man in his 50s was sentenced to prison for stabbing his partner with a weapon during an argument while intoxicated.
The Incheon District Court Criminal Division 8 (Judge Seong Jun-gyu) announced on the 10th that A (55), who was tried on charges of special injury, was sentenced to 8 months in prison.
The court stated, "The defendant has a history of multiple criminal punishments for violent crimes and was sentenced to a suspended prison term for obstruction of official duties in November last year. He committed the crime during the probation period without showing remorse, and the extent of the injury is not minor."
However, the court explained the sentencing reasoning, saying, "Considering that the defendant admitted the crime and showed remorse, and immediately called 119 after the incident to perform hemostasis on the victim, making some effort to prevent further harm, the sentence was determined accordingly."
A was prosecuted for injuring cohabitant B (54, female) with a weapon at his home in Seo-gu, Incheon, around 3:05 a.m. on January 18.
It was investigated that A committed the crime during an argument with B over cooking ramen while intoxicated. The two have been living together since May of last year.
