Former Labor Union Branch Chief and Others Indicted for Accepting Money in Exchange for Bus Driver Recruitment


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheol-in] Former union branch chiefs involved in exchanging money during the city bus driver hiring process have been caught by the prosecution.


The Criminal Division 3 of the Busan District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 10th that five individuals, including the former union branch chief of Bus A Company who received money in exchange for hiring bus drivers, have been indicted without detention on charges of embezzlement and violation of the Labor Standards Act.


They are accused of using the branch chief's recommendation rights to assist in employment and receiving money from applicants during the hiring process of new drivers from May 2015 to December 2016.


The prosecution also filed summary indictments on charges of mediation of embezzlement against 10 drivers who offered money while requesting employment.


During the investigation, the prosecution plans to indict them after thoroughly reviewing account transaction details, testimonies of related parties, and recorded files obtained. However, in accordance with regulations on the prohibition of disclosure of criminal cases, no further specific details of the indictment have been disclosed.
