At the meeting held at the Democratic Party's Gwangju Metropolitan City branch, the leadership including Lee Hae-chan, Standing Election Committee Chairman, Cho Jung-sik, Head of Policy Planning Headquarters, Kim Kyung-hyup, Head of General Affairs Headquarters, as well as Song Gap-seok, Gwangju Standing Election Committee Chairman, Seo Sam-seok, Jeonnam Standing Election Committee Chairman, Lee Gae-ho, Shin Jeong-hoon, Joint Election Committee Chairmen, and candidates running in Gwangju?Yoon Young-deok (Dongnam-gap), Lee Byung-hoon (Dongnam-eul), Yang Hyang-ja (Seogu-eul), Cho Oh-seop (Bukgu-gap), and Lee Yong-bin (Gwangsan-gap)?attended.


The Together Citizens Party was represented by leadership including Woo Hee-jong and Lee Jong-geol, Standing Election Committee Chairmen, Kim Hong-gul, Joint Election Committee Chairman, Jung Eun-hye, Secretary-General, Bong Jeong-hyun, Spokesperson, along with proportional representation candidates Choi Hoe-yong, Kim Kyung-man, and Kim Sang-min.


On this day, the two parties announced the joint Gwangju-Jeonnam policy pledge titled “Promise of Together and Together,” and held a signing ceremony for the policy pledge with Woo Hee-jong, Standing Election Committee Chairman of the Citizens Party, Song Gap-seok, Gwangju Standing Election Committee Chairman of the Democratic Party, and Seo Sam-seok, Jeonnam Standing Election Committee Chairman.


The jointly agreed “Gwangju-Jeonnam Joint Policy Pledge for Leading Northeast Asia’s Future Industries” includes

▲ Inclusion of the May 18 Spirit in the preamble of the Constitution and enactment of a special law punishing distortion of May 18 history ▲ Legislation for the establishment and operation of a National Violence Trauma Healing Center ▲ Revolutionary development of artificial intelligence, automobile, culture, and energy industries ▲ Attraction of the 4th generation circular synchrotron accelerator to Bitgaram Innovation City ▲ Guarantee system for minimum prices of local specialties and amendment of the Agricultural and Fishery Disaster Countermeasures Act ▲ Hosting the 2020 United Nations Climate Change Convention of the Parties, covering both Gwangju and Jeonnam.


Lee Hae-chan, Standing Election Committee Chairman, said, “Please participate in early voting while practicing social distancing,” and added, “For early and main voting, please vote for number 1, the Democratic Party, for constituency seats, and number 5, the Citizens Party, for proportional representation.”


He also stated, “I have resolved to reform the wrong political culture and practices of switching parties before elections,” emphasizing, “Some candidates claim they will rejoin or join the Democratic Party after winning, but such people will not return to the Democratic Party after the election.”


Song Gap-seok, Gwangju Standing Election Committee Chairman, strongly criticized, saying, “The Minsheng Party says they will make a Honam president, but four years ago, they were elected under the People’s Party banner by promoting the theory of Honam neglect,” and added, “They brought up the ‘Honam president theory’ to divide us and incite regional sentiments to prolong their political careers.”
