[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Candidate Jang Byeong-wan (Gwangju Metropolitan City Dongnam-gap) is promoting the establishment of the Energy Valley Scholarship Fund to nurture talent in the Nam-gu area.
Candidate Jang Byeong-wan stated on the 8th, "Education is an essential element for national development, and scholarships are a national investment for tomorrow and a cornerstone for opening the future." He added, "Especially for nurturing local talent, the Nam-gu Scholarship Foundation's scholarships alone are insufficient, so we plan to create the 'Energy Valley Scholarship' funded by contributions from resident companies to select outstanding students and low-income students, enabling them to focus on their studies."
Candidate Jang said, "Currently, Energy Valley is designated as an Energy New Industry Convergence Zone, and companies designated as energy-specialized enterprises receive support such as priority purchasing by public institutions, local tax reductions, and research and development assistance." He emphasized, "If designated as an Economic Free Zone and R&D Special Zone, full government support such as tax reductions, financial support, and administrative assistance will be provided. There is already a consensus to return the benefits received from the government as funds for nurturing local talent."
The Nam-gu Energy Valley Industrial Complex meets all the requirements for designation as an R&D Special Zone, including the presence of research institutions such as the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute, the confirmed completion and occupancy of LS Industrial Systems, and the aggregation of universities, research institutes, and companies conducting national research and development projects.
He said, "Once the Energy Valley Scholarship is established, more local talents in Nam-gu will benefit alongside the Nam-gu Scholarship Foundation." He added, "I will take the lead in creating an environment where talents who will be responsible for the future of Nam-gu, Gwangju, and the Republic of Korea can grow."
