Osang Healthcare Secures Orders for COVID-19 Diagnostic Kits from U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency and Brazil

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Osang Healthcare, a subsidiary of Osang Jaeil, announced on the 8th that it has additionally secured orders for COVID-19 diagnostic kits for 1.8 million people from the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), S?o Paulo City in Brazil, and the U.S. branch of global diagnostic company ELITECH.

Osang Healthcare signed a direct supply contract with FEMA through cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and plans to ship the first batch of kits for 300,000 people this week.

S?o Paulo City in Brazil ordered 1.3 million kits in the first phase, and these will be shipped this week and next week. The company stated that all payments have been received.

Osang Healthcare said, "This was achieved in cooperation with KOTRA, and the scale of the second additional supply is currently under negotiation."

Separately, negotiations are ongoing with the Brazilian central government regarding the timing and scale of supply. Additionally, the U.S. branch of global diagnostic company ELITECH has ordered 200,000 kits separately from the FEMA order and plans to supply Osang Healthcare’s diagnostic kits as a set with its diagnostic equipment.

An Osang Healthcare official explained, "The company is negotiating the supply of COVID-19 diagnostic kits with more than 60 countries worldwide in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," adding, "Large-scale orders are continuously coming from countries actively responding to the COVID-19 pandemic."

The company has obtained export approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and European certification (CE-IVD), and has applied for emergency use authorization from the FDA to enter the U.S. market.

A company representative said, "The company is actively responding to FDA registration requirements demanded by each country for exporting COVID-19 diagnostic kits. All requested documents have been submitted to the U.S. FDA, and the results are viewed positively."
