Busan City Invests 11 Billion KRW to Support Workers in Employment Blind Spots Affected by COVID-19

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju-cheol In] Busan City announced on the 8th that it will implement the 'COVID-19 Regional Employment Response Special Support Project' together with the Ministry of Employment and Labor to support workplaces affected by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis.

This project consists of two parts: employment stability support of 3.5 billion KRW for COVID-19 affected workplaces, and livelihood support of 7.5 billion KRW for special-type workers and freelancers (about 14,250 people), securing a total of 11 billion KRW in national funds to support approximately 23,000 people.

Applications will be accepted online in a non-face-to-face manner through a dedicated website from the 10th to the 20th. Eligibility and required documents can be found in the announcement.

Oh Geo-don, Mayor of Busan, said, "This project is promoted as a special support project for low-income workers on unpaid leave at small businesses excluded from the COVID-19 phase 1 and 2 support policies, as well as special-type workers and freelancers who are in the blind spots of the employment safety net. We will strive to prepare practical support policies to overcome the COVID-19 crisis."
