North Korea Reacts Angrily to German Unification Case in 'Unification Textbook'... "Absorption Unification is Extremely Dangerous"

"Anti-Unification Textbook Encouraging Intra-Ethnic Confrontation"

North Korea Reacts Angrily to German Unification Case in 'Unification Textbook'... "Absorption Unification is Extremely Dangerous" North Korea conducted a test firing of a super-large multiple rocket launcher on the 29th of last month, Chosun Central News Agency reported on the 30th.

On the 8th, North Korea criticized the unification education textbook published by the Ministry of Unification last February as an "anti-unification textbook that promotes confrontation among compatriots."

North Korea's external propaganda outlet, Meori, stated in an article titled "Unification Textbook That Will Block the Path to Unification" that "the German unification method, centered on 'absorption unification' and 'system unification,' neither helps solve our national issues nor is feasible, and the very attempt is extremely dangerous, which has long been acknowledged," asserting this position.

The outlet questioned, "Why does the Ministry of Unification in South Korea, not faraway Europe, stubbornly force the entire society, including the new generation, to recognize the absorption unification method of another country as a 'model'?" and added, "If a wrong view on the unification method takes root within our nation, there is no doubt that it will become a huge obstacle to the realization of the national unification cause in the future."

Meori further claimed, "Ultimately, under the guise of unification, it is nothing but promoting confrontation among compatriots and injecting the consciousness of absorption unification under the name of unification textbooks to realize foolish system unification delusions," and stated, "Through the publication of the '2020 Understanding Unification Issues,' the Ministry of Unification in South Korea has once again clearly shown its anti-unification nature to the entire nation."

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Unification newly published two basic textbooks on unification education this year, 'Understanding Unification Issues' and 'Understanding North Korea,' in February. These textbooks, published annually by the Ministry, are distributed as national unification education materials to middle and high schools, universities, public institutions, and libraries.

The '2020 Understanding Unification Issues' textbook newly added a section titled 'Lessons from German Unification' as Chapter 1, Section 3, which was not included last year. The Ministry of Unification explained, "In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of German unification, it includes the social integration process before and after unification in Germany and its implications."
