[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The prosecution is intensifying efforts to identify additional charges against accomplices who created and distributed sexually exploitative materials on Telegram alongside "Doctor" Jo Joo-bin (24, in custody).
The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office Digital Sex Crime Special Investigation Task Force (led by Deputy Chief Prosecutor Yoo Hyun-jung) summoned Lee Mo (16), who operated under the nickname "Taepyeongyang," on the morning of the 7th to investigate the circumstances of distributing sexually exploitative materials on Telegram.
Lee is suspected of distributing sexually exploitative videos in a separate chat room called "Taepyeongyang Expedition" from last year when he was in the third grade of middle school until March of this year. He is also known to have acted as an administrator in the "Doctor's Room" operated by Jo.
Lee was arrested and indicted on charges of producing and distributing obscene materials under the Child and Youth Sexual Protection Act on the 5th of last month and is awaiting his first trial.
The prosecution plans to summon Shin Mo (32), known as "Kelly," for questioning as a witness in the afternoon of the same day.
Shin was revealed to have inherited the initial sexually exploitative video sharing chat room "Nth Room" from "God God" and resold it, earning approximately 25 million won. He was arrested in September last year.
Jo's interrogation is scheduled to begin in the afternoon of the same day. This will be the 11th session.
Since Jo was transferred in custody on the 25th of last month, he has been undergoing daily prosecution investigations without fail, except for the first weekend.
The prosecution examined the applicability of the crime syndicate organization charge to the "Doctor's Room" crimes against Jo the day before. Today, they are expected to focus intensively on sex-related crimes committed against minors and others.
The prosecution is also investigating Park Mo, a private cryptocurrency exchanger presumed to be connected to Jo's criminal proceeds, on suspicion of violating the Act on the Regulation and Punishment of Criminal Proceeds Concealment.
