[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The prosecution recently conducted a search and seizure at the Seoul Detention Center in Uiwang-si, Gyeonggi-do, where the accomplices of 'Doctor' Jo Joo-bin (24, in custody), who is accused of producing and distributing sexual exploitation materials on Telegram, are being held, and secured additional evidence.
The Special Investigation Task Force on Digital Sex Crimes of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (led by Yoo Hyun-jung, Head of the Women and Children Crime Investigation Division) announced on the 6th that on the 3rd, they searched the detention rooms and other areas of the Seoul Detention Center in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, where four accomplices, including social service agent Kang Mo (24), are incarcerated.
Through this search, the prosecution reportedly secured various items such as notes used by Kang and two others after their detention, correspondence exchanged with the outside, and mobile phones entrusted at the time of detention.
At the Seoul Detention Center, Jo Joo-bin, Kang, Han Mo (27), Cheon Mo (29), a public official at Geoje City Hall, and Lee Mo (16), who uses the nickname 'Taepyeongyang', are incarcerated.
Among them, except for Han, the other three accomplices were found to have conspired with Jo in additional investigations by the police and prosecution related to the Doctor's Room case, and the prosecution judged it necessary to secure additional evidence, leading to the search and seizure.
In addition to the Seoul Detention Center, the prosecution also searched about five other locations, including some accomplices' offices and homes.
Meanwhile, from 10 a.m. on the same day, Jo was summoned and underwent his tenth interrogation in the presence of his lawyer. Since Jo was transferred to custody on the 25th of last month, the prosecution has summoned him daily without fail, except for the first weekend.
In the afternoon, the prosecution also summoned Lee, who is accused of distributing sexual exploitation videos in a separate chat room named 'Taepyeongyang Expedition Team'.
Lee reportedly operated under the nickname 'Taepyeongyang' from last year when he was in the third grade of middle school until February of this year.
Meanwhile, starting from this day, the prosecution has accelerated the tracking of funds related to Jo's crimes by receiving one professional investigator dispatched from the Investigation Support Division of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office to analyze related materials.
Considering the recent progress and workload of the investigation, two female prosecutors were also added to the task force (TF).
