KOSPI Rises 3% on Institutional Net Buying, KOSDAQ Challenges Recovery Above 600

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The KOSPI index rose by about 3%, supported by net buying from institutional investors. The KOSDAQ index also climbed more than 3%, aiming to recover the 600-point level.


On the 6th, the KOSPI, which started the day higher, maintained a rise of around 2% in the morning and increased its gains to the 3% range in the afternoon. As of 2:38 PM, it stood at 1,779.73, up 54.29 points (3.15%) compared to the previous trading day.


Looking at the supply and demand, institutional investors led the index rise with net purchases of 798.8 billion KRW. In contrast, individual and foreign investors sold net amounts of 579.9 billion KRW and 203.6 billion KRW, respectively.


By sector, telecommunications, food and beverages, paper and wood products, and distribution industries are rising.


Most of the top market capitalization stocks are also rising. Celltrion and LG Saenghwal Health Care are showing gains of over 5%, while SK Telecom, NCSoft, SK Hynix, Samsung C&T, and Samsung Electronics are also increasing.


The KOSDAQ index is also rising significantly. The KOSDAQ, which started higher today, has steadily increased its gains during the session. As of 2:38 PM, it was at 593.12, up 20.11 points (3.51%) compared to the previous trading day.
