[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Seonghwan, candidate for the April 15 general election in Dong-Nam-gu (Eul), Gwangju Metropolitan City, proposed "Cultural Capital Gwangju" as his campaign pledge.
On the 5th, Kim emphasized his connection as a former senior administrative officer at the Blue House under former President Roh Moo-hyun, who laid the foundation for the Asia Culture Centered City project, in a press release.
He stated, "As Roh Moo-hyun's senior administrative officer, I will complete Gwangju's cultural vision, which progresses from 'Cultural Capital Gwangju' and 'Asia Culture Centered City Development,' by establishing the 'Asia Culture Special Autonomous District.'
He continued, "The Asia Culture Special Autonomous District will be established under direct government jurisdiction, similar to Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and Sejong Special Self-Governing City," adding, "This will ensure continuous government support even after the completion of the Asia Culture Centered City development, and the government will directly lead the sustained development and growth of our Dong-Nam district."
Recalling his time working with President Moon Jae-in, who was the Chief Secretary during the Roh Moo-hyun Blue House administration, he added, "We will enact a special law for the establishment of the Asia Culture Special Autonomous District within the Moon Jae-in administration."
