[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Lee Yong-bin and Min Hyung-bae, candidates for the Gwangsan Gap and Eul constituencies of the Democratic Party of Korea, announced on the 5th that they will jointly operate the ‘Gwangsan Gap and Eul Fair Election Monitoring Team’ to conduct an election that meets the expectations of the people.
Candidates Lee Yong-bin and Min Hyung-bae stated, “Gwangsan is the lung and central axis of Gwangju’s economy, establishing itself as the new political hotspot of Gwangju,” and added, “As the political center of Gwangju, this April 15 general election must be conducted cleanly and fairly with good competition for the citizens of Gwangju and Gwangsan District, as well as for the people of the Republic of Korea.”
They continued, “Despite this historical mission, illegal and corrupt election practices such as buying the sacred sovereignty of the people with money and spreading false information are emerging, raising concerns among voters,” and added, “To prevent illegal and corrupt elections and to practice fair elections, the Democratic Party candidates for Gwangsan Gap and Eul will jointly operate the ‘Gwangsan Gap and Eul Fair Election Monitoring Team.’”
They explained, “The Fair Election Monitoring Team will be composed of 84 members, with four members from each of the 21 neighborhoods in the Gap and Eul areas, led by Jeong Moo-chang, a Gwangju city council member, and Park Seok-gyu, chairman of the Gwangsan Eul Guardians Committee. They will operate 24 hours a day from the 5th to the 14th in each neighborhood,” and added, “They will monitor illegal election activities such as distributing money, spreading false information, providing conveniences for early voting, and soliciting support within 100 meters of early voting stations.”
They concluded, “If the National Assembly is formed by violating even the most basic election laws, it will be shameful to be entrusted with power by the people,” and promised, “Candidates Lee Yong-bin and Min Hyung-bae will take the lead in the success of the Moon Jae-in administration and the re-creation of the government through a clean election without illegality and a policy election discussing pledges and policies.”
