This statement came amid ongoing discussions about unification with Park Yong-chan, the candidate from the United Future Party, indicating his unwillingness to unify.

On the 5th, Lee stated in a press release, "Regardless of party interests, I believe there should be at least one independent member of the National Assembly representing moderate voters in our National Assembly."

He added, "Being elected as an independent member of the National Assembly in Seoul is as revolutionary as a person from Honam being elected as the Saenuri Party leader or being elected twice as a Saenuri Party member from Honam," and said, "I expect the great voters of Yeongdeungpo to create another election miracle by electing Lee Jeong-hyun as an independent in Yeongdeungpo-gu-eul."

Lee criticized, "Shouldn't the ruling party stop politics like this? Privatizing power like this, dividing the people into factions like this, recklessly borrowing from future generations' shares, and having different laws for those in power and for the people?this kind of politics should not be allowed," adding, "The president is a king right now."

Regarding the opposition party, he emphasized, "The opposition party should not do politics like this either. Boycotting at every chance, going outside the parliament at every chance, opposing just for the sake of opposition, lacking leaders and leadership?it's difficult to take power with this kind of politics."

He concluded, "Moderate voters must vote to reform politics and protect the people's taxes," and said, "Now, elections should be about choosing individuals rather than selecting candidate number 1 or number 2."
