[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Jong-in, the General Election Committee Chairman of the United Future Party, criticized the government, saying, "Even though power was given to the government, the country has ended up in this state." He appears to be trying to elevate the Cho Kuk issue as a major election topic by asking whether to choose 'saving Cho Kuk' or 'reviving the economy.'
On the 5th, during a live talk greeting at the support event for candidates in Seo-gu and Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, Chairman Kim said, "These people (the current government) recently say, 'We need to have power to do anything,' but even though power was given to them, the country has ended up in this state."
He added, "In the past, we were called the fastest-growing country in the world, but since this government took office, the growth rate has gradually declined, and now we have become the fastest-falling country," and criticized the current government's economic management, saying, "If these people continue to run the government in this way, no one can predict what will happen in all areas, including the economy and security."
He continued, "If the United Future Party wins the majority of seats in the National Assembly in the general election and secures a majority, this government will inevitably come to its senses at that moment. It will immediately face the issue of its own survival," and added, "They will have no choice but to come to their senses and change in order to survive. We must make such a situation happen this time," urging support for the United Future Party to check the government.
Chairman Kim said, "Right now, these people think, 'We must save Cho Kuk' and 'We need to secure a majority of seats to oust Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol,'" and added, "Do you know why they keep bothering someone who is trying hard to uphold the law? Because there are so many serious wrongdoings."
He emphasized, "In this situation, should you save the economy or save Cho Kuk? I believe no one agrees with saving Cho Kuk in this situation," and said, "He is already impeached in the hearts of the people." He also criticized the recent nominations by the Democratic Party of Korea, saying, "Anyone who said something unfavorable about Cho Kuk was simply dropped in this nomination, and this party praises the shameless Cho Kuk," and stressed, "What will such a party do once it enters the National Assembly?"
