Accidental Model Name Exposure... 4.7-Inch iPhone Named 'iPhone SE'

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The name of Apple's mid-range iPhone successor, released after four years, is not 'iPhone 9' nor 'iPhone SE 2,' but the 2020 model 'iPhone SE.'

On the 2nd (local time), Apple revealed the product name iPhone SE on Belkin's 4.7-inch iPhone screen protector product page under the official website's accessory sales section, labeling it as 'for iPhone SE/8/7.' This confirmed that the upcoming mid-range iPhone shares the same 4.7-inch size as the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8. Currently, the name iPhone SE has been removed from the post.

Earlier, 9to5Mac also reported that the new iPhone's name would be 'iPhone SE.' Unlike expectations that it would be called iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9 as a successor to the iPhone SE released in 2016, it has been named the 2020 model iPhone SE.

The 2020 iPhone SE is expected to be released in three colors: White, Black, and Red. Storage options will be divided into 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB models. There are also rumors of a 5.5-inch version of the iPhone SE being released, but little information has been disclosed about this model.

The iPhone SE is expected to be released with a design similar to the iPhone 8, supporting Touch ID and featuring the same 4.7-inch display as its predecessor. It will likely have 3GB of RAM, a 12-megapixel camera, and be equipped with the same A13 processor as the iPhone 11. Features not supported by the iPhone 8, such as Car Key and Apple Pay Express Card, will be included.

Foreign media have predicted that Apple would unveil the iPhone 9 on the 15th and start sales on the 22nd, but hints suggest the schedule may be moved up by more than 10 days. Ahead of the iPhone SE launch, cases and screen protectors have already been manufactured and supplied to distributors. Best Buy employees have been instructed to start selling new iPhone SE cases from the 5th.

However, even if Apple releases the new iPhone SE soon, it is expected to take at least a month before it is officially launched in South Korea, as the country has consistently been excluded from the first wave of releases.
