[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…The PGA Tour in the United States is facing an emergency.

Ross Berlin, the vice chairman in charge of players, has tested positive for COVID-19. Golfweek reported on the afternoon of the 3rd (Korean time) that "Vice Chairman Berlin recently informed employees via email that he had contracted COVID-19." Berlin showed symptoms of pneumonia and underwent a COVID-19 test on the 28th of last month, with a positive result confirmed on the 2nd. He has been staying at home since March 13, when The Players Championship was canceled.

Berlin disclosed, "During the self-quarantine period, I met with PGA Tour staff and players." He added, "I plan to take another test soon" and "I will recover quickly and return to work." The PGA Tour is currently in a 'shutdown' state due to COVID-19. Following the U.S. federal government's declaration of a state of emergency, 11 tournaments in the 2019/2020 season have been canceled or postponed. The next scheduled event is the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, on May 21.
