Gwangju Buk-gu Selected for Living Culture Community Creation Contest

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Moon In) announced on the 3rd that it has been selected for the '2020 Living Culture Community Building' contest hosted by the Regional Culture Promotion Agency and will receive 20 million KRW in national funding.

This project was prepared to involve residents as main participants in culture and arts in their daily lives, aiming to revitalize living culture clubs and restore community values.

Accordingly, Buk-gu, together with the executing organization Buk-gu Cultural Center, will support various activities such as discovering living culture clubs, operating cultural arts programs, talent donation to welfare facilities, and village festivals under four themes: Addition, Sharing, Enjoyment, and Multiple Values, until November.

In particular, they plan to conduct capacity-building education so that club members can grow as leaders of local culture, and focus on expanding the community through publishing club materials and living culture festivals.

Mayor Moon In of Buk-gu said, “I hope this project will serve as an opportunity for diverse exchanges and capacity building among living culture clubs,” and added, “We will actively support living culture clubs to grow as cultural leaders guiding Buk-gu’s culture and arts in the future.”
