KBSI Supports Overcoming COVID-19 with Reduced Equipment Usage Fees for SMEs and More

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Junho] The Korea Basic Science Institute (KBSI) announced on the 3rd that it will reduce equipment usage fees (analysis support fees) by 50% for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for the next three months to help SMEs struggling due to the economic downturn caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

KBSI, as a leading research equipment institution, has established and operates advanced large-scale research facilities and equipment. It also provides analysis support services by opening its advanced research and analysis equipment to SMEs to offer analysis technology that helps solve on-site technical difficulties.

KBSI is recruiting excellent SME member companies from today until the 29th. Selected excellent members will receive equipment usage fee discounts (up to 40%) for seven months starting from June 1.

KBSI has previously provided next-year equipment usage fee discounts to existing excellent members, but this year, the policy has been changed so that discounts can be enjoyed immediately upon selection. It also offers conveniences such as deferral and installment payment of technology fees for SMEs.

Shin Hyung-sik, Director of KBSI, said about this SME support plan, "We hope to revitalize the economy, which has been contracted due to COVID-19, and share even a little of the pain of SMEs facing difficulties," adding, "All members will unite to fulfill our social responsibility as a government-funded research institute and strive to prepare more support measures."
