[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] A second case of COVID-19 has been confirmed among the cast members of the musical 'The Phantom of the Opera.'
The world tour promoter of 'The Phantom of the Opera,' Clip Service, announced on the 2nd that an additional COVID-19 case had been confirmed. The day before, a Canadian female ensemble cast member tested positive for COVID-19, and the performances of 'The Phantom of the Opera' were suspended from the previous day.
According to Clip Service, on the 1st, a total of 81 people including all actors and overseas staff, as well as some domestic staff, were tested. Among them, a 1991-born American male ensemble cast member was additionally confirmed positive. The test results of the other 80 people were confirmed negative. Clip Service explained that the male ensemble cast member who tested positive is currently awaiting hospitalization, and 46 people still need to be tested.
They also added that epidemiological investigations on the two confirmed cases are underway and will be announced through the relevant authorities once completed.
The Blue Square venue was disinfected and closed at 3 p.m. on the 1st, and disinfection measures were also taken in the surrounding areas. On the 1st, an on-site inspection was conducted by epidemiological investigators from the local district health center, covering the stage, orchestra pit, backstage, and audience seats comprehensively.
Clip Service stated that regardless of test results, 126 production staff and cast members of 'The Phantom of the Opera' have entered a two-week self-quarantine.
