[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu Reporter]For the second consecutive day, a new case of COVID-19 has been confirmed at the U.S. Forces Korea Pyeongtaek Base (Camp Humphreys). This is the 15th confirmed case among U.S. Forces Korea personnel.
The U.S. Forces Korea Command announced on the 2nd, "A positive COVID-19 case has been confirmed at Camp Humphreys," adding, "Epidemiological investigations and quarantine measures are underway."
On the previous day, an American worker at Camp Humphreys was diagnosed with COVID-19. It has been identified that all six recent additional COVID-19 cases among U.S. Forces Korea personnel are employees stationed at Camp Humphreys.
Earlier, the U.S. Department of Defense raised the military health protection condition (HPCON) to the second-highest level, 'Charlie.'
Following the upgrade to 'Charlie,' restrictions on large gatherings and additional social distancing measures were implemented.
U.S. Forces Korea has issued a further strengthened 'Charlie Plus' level exclusively for Camp Humphreys (Pyeongtaek U.S. military base). Accordingly, soldiers and personnel at Camp Humphreys are strictly prohibited from entering religious facilities, laundromats, barbershops, clubs, movie theaters, and similar venues.
