Daegu Je2 Miju and Daesil Nursing Hospital Confirm 242 Cases ... Twice the Number of Daenam Hospital On the afternoon of March 30, soldiers from the Army 2nd Operations Command are conducting disinfection work in front of Hansarang Nursing Hospital in Seo-gu, Daegu.


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] COVID-19 confirmed cases continue to occur in psychiatric hospitals and nursing hospitals in the Daegu area.


According to Daegu City on the 2nd, among the 17 new confirmed cases in Daegu confirmed that morning, 16 came from psychiatric hospitals or nursing hospitals where confirmed cases had already occurred.


At the Second Miju Hospital located in a building in Dalseong-gun, 12 new cases were reported the day before, and one new case was reported at Daesil Nursing Hospital. The cumulative number of confirmed cases is 95 and 147 respectively, totaling 242 when the two hospitals are combined. This exceeds twice the number of confirmed cases at Gyeongbuk Cheongdo Daenam Hospital (120 cases according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency statistics).


In particular, at the Second Miju Hospital, 21% of the total 690 patients and staff were infected with COVID-19. Since the first confirmed case on March 26, the number of confirmed cases has been rapidly increasing. At Daesil Nursing Hospital, 95 out of a total of 613 people, or 15.5%, tested positive.


Additional confirmed cases were also reported at Hansarang Nursing Hospital (2 cases) and Fatima Hospital (1 case) in Seo-gu.


At Hansarang Nursing Hospital, which has 432 people including patients and staff, the number of infected people has reached 123 (28.5%) so far. At Fatima Hospital, a general hospital, one staff member was confirmed positive, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 21.


Daegu City also announced that one confirmed case (Daedong Hospital) was found in a full investigation of 2,422 patients at 16 psychiatric hospitals in Daegu, excluding facilities where confirmed cases had already occurred. In tests conducted on 2,425 caregivers working at hospitals in Daegu, no additional confirmed cases were found other than the two confirmed the day before.


As of that morning, the number of confirmed cases and deaths in the Daegu area were 6,725 and 114, respectively. Among the 6,725 confirmed cases, 4,361 people have been declared recovered. Forty-five patients are currently undergoing treatment or waiting at home after confirmation.


Currently, 524 overseas arrivals are being managed by Daegu City. Among the 398 people who underwent diagnostic tests, nine (six at airport quarantine, three at public health center screening clinics) were confirmed positive.


Chae Hong-ho, Deputy Mayor of Daegu City, said, "Although the number of admissions to residential treatment centers for mild patients is decreasing, six of the 11 facilities currently in operation will be operated continuously for the time being in preparation for confirmed student cases due to the opening of elementary, middle, and high schools."
