[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Park Hee-eun] The Gwangju Nambu Police Station arrested A (23) on the 1st on charges of infant murder for throwing a newborn baby born in a PC room bathroom out the window, causing the baby's death. The arrest warrant for the biological father B (26), who is suspected of aiding and abetting, was dismissed.

A is accused of throwing the newborn baby she gave birth to out the window of the third-floor bathroom of a PC room in Nam-gu, Gwangju, at around 9:40 a.m. on February 5.

The police caught A, who fled to her nearby home, through analysis of closed-circuit television (CCTV). At the time of the emergency arrest, A was in poor physical condition due to postpartum hemorrhage and other aftereffects of childbirth, so she received hospital treatment before being questioned by the police.

According to the police, the baby fell onto the third-floor railing made to place an air conditioner outdoor unit, and when the police and rescue team arrived after receiving the report, the baby was already deceased.

Immediately after giving birth, A called the baby's father, B, saying, "I don't know what to do. I am going to throw the baby outside." B responded, "Do as you please," and did not try to stop her.

The police, who launched an investigation after a report from a resident near the PC room, arrested A at her residence in the afternoon of the incident.

The police viewed B's actions as aiding and abetting murder and applied for an arrest warrant, but it was dismissed.
