[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] As the government recommends suspending operations of high-risk facilities to prevent the spread of COVID-19, entertainment bars in Wando-gun are also actively participating in social distancing by deciding to close temporarily.

Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced on the 31st that there are a total of 84 entertainment bars operating in the area, including 63 in Wando-eup, and that starting from the 23rd through the 26th, 100% of them have voluntarily closed.

The county recommended voluntary closure from the 22nd, the start of the government's intensive social distancing period, until the 5th of next month, and is conducting daily joint inspections with the Wando Police Station to check compliance.

Some business owners have proactively complied with government policies by creating their own voluntary closure notices, posting them at their entrances, and blocking customer access.

In response, residents have welcomed the owners' decisions, and the group "People Who Love the Healthy Island Wando" drew attention by hanging banners expressing sincere gratitude to the owners who voluntarily suspended operations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Shin Woo-cheol, the mayor of Wando-gun, expressed thanks for the decision to suspend operations for the sake of the Healthy Island Wando and sent individual messages of thanks and encouragement to the business owners, urging everyone to overcome COVID-19 with the strength of the residents.

A Wando-gun official stated, "We plan to conduct focused guidance and inspections on compliance with closures until the 5th of next month, the intensive social distancing period," and added, "Even if the suspension of operations is eased, we will thoroughly guide businesses to comply with preventive measures such as providing hand sanitizers and conducting disinfection within the premises to prevent COVID-19 infection."
